I will be the first to admit, that I had little faith in the Wii and its Wii motes. I am also willing to admit, I was wrong. The Wii is a smash hit with both hardcore and casual gamers. The lightweight console smashed the the heavyweight Playstation and Xbox. I mean honestly, which console allows you to wave your arms like an idiot in front of your TV? Which console is actually requiring overweight people a small amount of physical activity?

In light of all this, it is no wonder that Microsoft and Playstation are moving towards tapping into the huge oil well of casual gamers. The latest in the rumor mill is a new Playstation 3 Controller. And no... I'm not talking about the Bananna Boomerang... this is something else entirely.

This new controller has motion sensing technology like the Wii but with greater capabilities. According to a poster on Neogaf, Sony filled for a new patent for a controller that has an accelerometer and ultrasound technology. Unlike the Wii mote, this Playstation controller can be configured into several different forms.

The Bottom Line: How will this new attempt to depose Nintendo as King of all Consoles? Only Time will tell.
