By now I’m sure everyone has heard of the
frequency of hardware failures for Xbox 360s. Microsoft has acknowledged the fact the there is a real problem and is supposedly trying to repair the all the problem consoles free of charge. However, I just brought my 360 up here to play and when I plugged it in I got the three red lights. The thing had worked perfectly the night before, and I didn’t drop it or anything. Shouldn’t even a poorly made product not fail until it has some sort of reason? The next couple days were spent googling every possible idea for a cause. The light on the power supply is fine, there’s no second surge protector, and the ventilation for it was fine. I am very unhappy with Microsoft right now. What really annoyed me was that before you can send in your console Microsoft has to send you a box and they would only let me have the box arrive at my old address. So I put in a repair request a couple of days ago, but I had to send it back to my old address so that I could ship it from there and then when (and if) it is fixed I will have to go get it at that address. Microsoft did approve me for a free repair even though my warranty is up, and I will be sending it off soon. When I get it back, I will report on my experience and how well or poorly Microsoft is handling this.
