Tagger's last post had me thinking about my favorite
Game Boy, the
Game Boy micro. It's essentially another remake of the
Game Boy Advance, like the
Game Boy SP was. Unlike the SP though, it improved on the design much more. Despite the improvements, it was never popular. Whenever I'm playing it and people see it they always ask "What's that little thing? Is that a Game Boy?!". It seems to me
Nintendo didn't really try to sell the thing. I saw a commercial for them once, and when I decided to buy one it took me like a month to find one.

The main selling point of the micro for me was its size (it's small if you didn't get that from the name). Game cartridges look massive in comparison. Actually, it's roughly the size of my cell phone, 4 inches by 2 inches and less than an inch thick, so I can carry it whenever. Also this makes it greatly for playing covertly, like in class for example. The micro provides for far more play time throughout your day.

Another thing I love about the micro is the improvement in the screen. Compared to the advance it is really small, but surprisingly everything is much clearer and never too small. The colors are wonderfully vibrant, and there is a backlight with 4 different settings. It's no problem to see the screen in the sun or anywhere anymore. With a micro you will never spend another hour leaning over by a light to make out the picture.

What I found most surprising about the micro though is the battery life. It has a rechargeable
Li-ion battery, which allows for the small size. Despite its small size and vibrant screen, the battery life is measured at about 8 hours with the default sound and backlight settings. I always play with the brightness all the way up and the sound off, and the battery seems to last forever. I have never even had the low battery light come on, and I had no charger at first. So if you're looking for a good form of in-class entertainment or just want a better way to play those old
Pokemon games, you should look into a Game Boy micro.
