Start dusting off those friend codes, and pull out that pokedex that made you the coolest kid on the block in elementary school (you know that one that actually had a screen and said stuff, not those cheapo ones with stickers on the inside), pokemon platinum is coming. Don't even try to hide it, acting like you're too old for pokemon, everyone has played pokemon at some point.......and enjoyed it. So what's going to be different with pokemon platinum, I mean every game is just collect badges, kill evil team, beat elite four right? The biggest thing with platinum is a new zone, the torn world. Finally Game Freak is going to take advantage of the DS's hardware and create a full three dimensional zone. Of course that's not enough, what good is three dimensions if you can't walk on the ceilings? They have also decided to add a new type of pokemon, the lolappliance type. Yep rotom, the ghost/electric pokemon found in the TV of a haunted mansion, now has 5 new forms based on different types, frost/fridge, water/washing machine, grass/lawn mower, fire/oven, and flying/fan. It's pretty clear that we are missing a few types though, I mean come on if you're going to add some ridiculous pokemon types you might as well be complete about it. I mean who doesn't want to see a psychic type rotom shaped like the LHC (Rotom uses Proton Beam! It's super effective! Wild Graveler has fainted! What's this, Rotom is evolving! Rotom has evolved into Black Hole! Black Hole is affected by Hawking Radiation, It's super effective! Black Hole has fainted, use next pokemon?)? Battle frontier is also making a come back, and if you've played emerald, you know that the battle frontier contains a lot of content (A LOT). Ok so battle frontier isn't enough for you, I mean what good is being the very best (that no one ever was.......to train them is my real test to catch them is my caaauuuse) if everyone doesn't know it? Well that's where a new key item comes in, the battle recorder. Now you can keep a record of all your battles(global WIFI and battle frontier), your pokemon (fuck ya shiny bidoof!), even contest ribbons/pictures, and it will all be shown over nintendo WIFI. Even when you think you've finished everything, you're not done, there's still all the new side quests and old side quests available and WIFI minigames, along with the battle zone from diamond/pearl, this game is crammed with things to do (hell haven't even gotten into EV's or IV's). The games already been released in japan (the fastest selling DS game yet) and can be expected here in the US early 2009.
